Job Description

LondonEnergy are currently looking to recruit a Plant Operator to work within our waste transfer station in Wembley, West London.

The Plant Operator is responsible for receiving and sorting through the waste received from local authorities to enable the transfer of the correct type of waste to the Company’s Eco Park and other external providers.

As the Plant Operator you are also responsible for:

  • Using plant machinery such as: Wheeled 360 & Shovel
  • Ensuring effective operation of the weighbridge in accordance with the Manager's instructions and recording information on tonnage using Weightron; compiling returns and daily information summaries as required.
  • Identify potential hazards relating to all aspects of the operation, including unsafe practices of local authority users and our client (NLWA) logging such issues on Microsoft D365 and reporting these to the Line Manager.
  • To operate mobile plant as required to safely contain and transfer material from the storage bays, including pushing up waste on the loading shovel as well as loading hoppers and lorries.
  • To carry out daily routine maintenance checks to all plant machinery
  • To carry out waste inspection checks, reporting any non-conforming waste or dealing with non-conformance as required.
  • To assist the Supervisors in the control of traffic within the tipping hall, and such other areas as may be directed.
  • To monitor all traffic movements around the weighbridge and civic amenities site thereby ensuring all site/Company procedures/ regulations are adhered to, reporting contraventions of such procedures/regulations to the Supervisor.
  • To deal with all non-conforming waste and waste deliveries, including those customers not carrying the required documentation, in accordance with legislative requirements /Company policy, redirecting such deliveries as appropriate.
  • To carry out routine cleaning to ensure the site is free from litter and to contain and dispose of any spillages.
  • Undertaking any necessary training as required
  • Undertaking any other appropriate work task as directed by the site manager

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of waste operations desirable.
  • Experience of certified weighbridge operation including good numeracy, keyboard skills and systems understanding.
  • Able to deal effectively, efficiently, and courteously with all site users.
  • Ability to use initiative and work flexibly and efficiently without constant supervision.
  • Loading Shovel and 360-degree Material handler
  • Must be prepared to work at any of the Company's sites.
