Job Description

The control of vehicles and personnel tipping and discharging their loads at the plant and within the complex to ensure that it is carried out safely and effectively. The appropriate clothing, as provided, must always be worn.


· Controlling the tipping of waste by refuse collection and other vehicles from the control desk and by personal supervision on the tipping apron

· Manually controlling the traffic on the tipping apron, ensuring safety procedures are strictly adhered to

· Carrying out waste inspections as per Company policy and procedures at predetermined times utilizing mobile plant as required

· Liaising between tipping apron and control room and/or cranes by two-way radio

· Operating mobile plant in keeping the work area tidy

· Liaising with all other operational and maintenance sections

· Liaising with the Emergency Services and regulatory departments where necessary

· Assisting and supervising the disposal of confidential and other wastes in order to ensure safe standards and avoid hazards to others

· Keeping the tipping hall floor and associated areas free from litter

· Traffic control and Labouring duties anywhere on site or other LEL sites as required

· Where required, training new staff in the work of Traffic Controller and undertaking any training as required

· Ensuring that the Health & Safety at Work Act and the LondonEnergy Ltd. safety procedures are always carried out

· Housekeeping duties to keep the Tipping apron as clean and tidy as possible

· Complete all department documentation as required

· Clinical waste documents are a legal requirement and must be completed correctly this includes a duty of care for 18-01-04/07 waste as well as 18-01-01 non-hazardous sharps

· Carrying out waste inspections in accordance with company procedures
